AFSCME 3800 Toy Drive

AFSCME Local 3800 will be collecting donations of toys for the U of M Masonic Children’s Hospital from December 4-14. Due to infection prevention concerns, we can only accept new, unwrapped toys, books, clothes and crafts in their original packaging—preferably in plastic bags directly from the store. See below for a list of preferred items.

 You can drop off your donation on December 13 during our union coffee break.

Or deliver your toys to a local 3800 officer or executive board member:

Looking for donation ideas?

The pediatric patients love age-appropriate toys and games. They typically ask for a wide range of toys, clothes and books. They can use everything from arts and craft supplies to Xbox and PlayStation 4 video games.

For infants and toddlers, we especially need:

  • Rattles
  • Light-up and sound toys
  • Links and plastic rings
  • O-balls
  • Infant kick-and-play crib toys

For preschool and school-age patients, we especially need:

  • Thomas & Friends trains (Die-cast style)
  • Paw Patrol toys
  • Lego kits
 For teens, we especially need:
  • Lego kits
  • Headphones
  • Slippers and slipper socks
  • Burt’s Bees kits
  • Minnesota sports team apparel

Books that we especially need:

  • Baby board books
  • Books with princess themes
  • Books with superhero themes
  • The very latest in young adult fiction
