Charlie Chaplin's last 'silent' film, filled with sound effects, was made when everyone else was making talkies. The film stars Chaplin as the Tramp playing a worker in a massive, industrialized, assembly-line factory. Through the course of the film, the Tramp incidentally gets involved with labor struggles, has a few run-ins with the law, falls in love, is mistaken for a communist — in short, he’s a member of the proletariat in the early 20th century. The film is full of shrewd political and social critique.

Popcorn, soda, beer and wine will be available during the film; donations appreciated.

Ongoing labor movie events the 3rd Friday of every month. Check out the 2015 schedule here!
