AFSCME 3800 is organizing a summer reading and discussion group on strike strategies. We will be studying the 1930’s private sector strike wave and the public sector strike waves of the 1960’s & 1970’s, led by women and people of color. We’ll discuss the current teacher strike waves and look at different strategies for carrying out successful strikes.

Monthly meetings over the summer. Dates, times, and locations to be determined. Our local will provide books and articles. If you would like to join the reading/discussion group, please email President Cherrene Horazuk at cherrene67@gmail.com.

For the first session, we will be reading and discussing the book, "Reviving the Strike" by Joe Burns. Joe is the former president of AFSCME 1164 (U of M Hospital Workers) and is currently the director of collective bargaining for the Association of Flight Attendants.
